Playing a Talking Audiobook for the first time
You've just bought your first Talking Issues audiobook, downloaded all the files to your PC and settled in to listen. Now what?
Depending on the setup of your PC you may find that the first time you play a Talking Issues audiobook you will need to install some Windows-specific software to facilitate playback. This is nothing to worry about and is standard procedure for playing back the type of files provided by Talking Issues.
Follow our step-by-step guide below and you'll be up and running in no time.
Locate the downloaded audiobook files on your PC and double-click one to open it in your default media player. Talking Issues audiobooks will play in both Windows Media Player and RealPlayer so it doesn't matter which program it opens in.
2) Sign in to get your license
The Talking Issues license window will appear. You should see the title, author and a thumbnail image of your chosen audiobook. If these details do not correspond the the audiobook you have purchased then please contact us at info@talkingissues.com
Enter the email address and password that you use to sign in to the Talking Issues website and then press the submit button.
If you have not purchased this audiobook title the you will not be able to play the file. Skip to Step 5 for more information.
Talking Issues audiobooks require a small piece of software called an ActiveX control to be installed on your PC before the files can be played. You can find out more about ActiveX controls here or read the Microsoft support note on removing an ActiveX control here.
Click on the pale yellow bar at the top of the license window. This will display the ActiveX install menu. Select 'Run ActiveX Control' from the menu.
The ActiveX security warning window will appear. Click the 'Run' button to install the ActiveX control.
Please note: Failure to install the ActiveX control (or uninstalling it at a later date) will mean that you cannot play Talking Issues audiobooks.
4) Press 'Play' and enjoy your audiobook
With the ActiveX control installed you can now play your audiobook. Click the 'Play' button to start listening. Your license for this audiobook title has been downloaded and installed. You don't need a new license for each file.
5) Not licensed to play the file?
If you have not yet purchased this audiobook then you will not be able to play the file(s). If you have purchased the title and are experiencing problems getting a license then please contact us at info@talkingissues.com
Clicking the 'Buy this title now' will take you directly to the Talking Issues website where you can complete a purchase. Once the title has been bought reopening the files will start the licensing process again.
