Publishers Summary

Bagehot is The Economist’s column about British politics and society. Named after a great 19th century editor of the paper, the column often reflects goings on at Westminster – but not always. In 2008 Bagehot wrote on subjects as varied as the Iraq war and an octogenarian television presenter, as well as Gordon Brown’s travails and impact of the financial crisis on British politics.
